Problem
The problem we face is diagnosing the cause of shortness of breath - dyspnea. It occurs very frequently and is accompanied by a decrease in exertion capacity. Usually, its cause is Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Both disorders are among the four leading causes of death in developed countries.
The problem is that CHF and COPD are difficult to distinguish up front - the initial misdiagnosis applies to as many as 68% of dyspnea cases, as confirmed in many cited scientific publications.
The current standard of diagnostics comes down to the need for several tests, which costs a lot and takes several weeks on average. The challenge is the need to visit multiple specialists.

The alternative
The alternative is EFM's solution Mudisocard - a multidimensional system for cardiac dynamics.
The current standard in cardiac diagnostics is recording parameters by means of several tests performed separately. The diagnostic process usually takes several weeks. Delaying effective treatment for such a long time is detrimental to patients' health and, in extreme cases, even to their lives.
The objective of Mudisocard is to analyse the dynamics of the heart. It supports diagnosing Chronic Heart Failure and distinguishing it from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in one visit with one test.
The intention is to make the diagnostic process simpler, quicker and cheaper. So, the doctor can immediately start the relevant treatment.
Diagnostic process

We have developed a device that records the following three signals from the human body: 3D ECG, 3D impedance and chest auscultation. These measurements are made using 7 electrode tips placed on the patient's body. Several minutes of signals coming from the chest are simultaneously recorded with a common time base. The recording is transmitted telemedically to the platform, where an algorithm compares each heartbeat with previous ones, analyzing their dynamic patterns. The result of this process makes it possible to immediately distinguish HF from COPD, and thus diagnose HF even for a primary care physician.

Advantages
Mudisocard can reduce the required diagnostic time to a few minutes, facilitating a diagnosis in a single visit. This will significantly shorten the entire diagnostic process and reduce its cost intensity - the estimated cost reduction in the heart failure diagnostic process is about 60%. Reducing the number of tests required to make a conclusive diagnosis will help reduce the workload on the healthcare system, so doctors will be able to attend to other patients in need.

Analysis of correlated 3D-ECG, 3D-impedance and auscultation signals by Mudisocard provides benefits such as:
+
Applicable
globally
Millions of people are potentially affected. Needs in this area are growing, especially with the overall aging of the population.
+ Support during
the diagnostic process
It allows for earlier and adequate implementation of appropriate treatment.
+ Increased
cost efficiency
Earlier diagnosis means a more favorable prognosis for the patient and more efficient use of the provider's resources.
+ Improved access to
top-quality cardiac care
It brings cardiology "under the roof" thanks to telemedicine's ability to transmit remotely the data taken during the test.

To the best of our knowledge, no other tool has the potential for such comprehensive insight into the condition of the heart.
